Event and artist security in Nigeria
Weddings, concerts, launches and December parties bring big crowds and big names together. Event security in Nigeria is about keeping the right people in, the wrong people out and everyone safe on the way home.
Event security in Nigeria: who it is for
We plan security for hosts, organisers, families and artists. The size of the event changes the plan, but the aim stays the same: a good night with no surprises.
- Weddings, birthdays and family celebrations.
- Concerts, shows and festivals.
- Brand launches, private dinners and company events.
- Artists and their managers on tour around Nigeria.
- December parties and shows in Lagos.
Crowd safety at Nigerian events
Crowds can turn dangerous fast. In December 2024, Nigeria saw several deadly crowd crushes in one week: at a children's funfair in Ibadan, at a church handing out food in Abuja and at a food distribution in Okija, Anambra State. These were not concerts, but the lesson is the same. Too many people, too few exits and poor control at the gate cost lives.
In Lagos, the Lagos State Safety Commission requires organisers of events with more than 250 people to register the event and get an Event Safety Permit. Its guidance covers crowd control, emergency plans, fire safety and medical cover. We plan the security side to fit those rules and work with the venue and the organiser on entry, exits and emergency routes.
Artist security in Nigeria, from hotel to stage and back
Artists face their own mix of risks: crowds who love them, people who want something from them and posts that tell everyone where they are. Our artist security covers the whole day, not just the stage.
On a tour, the same team can travel with the artist from city to city, so the faces closest to them do not change. We plan each flight, each road move and each hotel, and we check the next venue before the artist arrives.
- Hotel and dressing room checks before the artist arrives.
- An arrival plan agreed with the venue: which entrance, who meets you and how long the walk is.
- Control of stage access, with a clear path off stage at all times.
- Handling fans with respect, so photos and greetings happen safely.
- An exit plan with the car ready and the route checked.
- After-parties: when to go, who goes and when to leave.
- Working with managers on when to post, so locations go online after the artist has moved on.
How we plan event security in Nigeria
Good event security is mostly preparation. By the time guests arrive, the hard work should be done.
- We visit the venue in advance and check entrances, exits, parking and nearby roads.
- We agree the guest list and how guests will be checked at the gate.
- We brief venue staff and any other security team, so everyone works to one plan.
- We set up a medical and emergency plan, including the nearest hospital and the route to it.
- We agree how all teams will talk to each other on the night.
- We name one team lead who makes the calls and speaks to you.
Detty December: event security in Lagos
From mid-December to early January, Lagos fills with concerts, beach parties, weddings and shows, and with people who have flown home for the season. Roads are slow, venues are full and plans change at short notice.
If you are hosting or performing in December, book early. Plan arrivals and exits around traffic, keep your timings to a small group, and make sure your guests know how to get in and out safely. In a packed venue, phones, bags and jewellery go missing easily, so give important guests a safe place to leave valuables and a clear route to their cars.
Wedding and private event security
A Nigerian wedding can bring together a very large guest list, important guests, valuable gifts and plenty of cash on the dance floor. That makes the gate, the car park and the gift table as important as the hall itself.
We protect the couple and their families, manage arrivals of important guests, watch over gifts and valuables and keep uninvited people out without spoiling the day. When the party ends, we see the family safely home.

Questions people ask us
How early should I book event security in Lagos?
As early as you can, and earlier still for December. That gives us time to visit the venue, plan arrivals and exits, and book cars and drivers.
Do I need a permit for an event in Lagos?
The Lagos State Safety Commission requires events with more than 250 people to be registered and to hold an Event Safety Permit. Check with the commission for your event, and we will plan security to fit its rules.
Can you work with the venue's own security?
Yes. We brief the venue team, agree who covers which area and keep one plan and one line of contact for the night.
Can you protect an artist on a tour across Nigeria?
Yes. We plan each city and each move between them, including airports, hotels, venues and road travel between states.
Can event security in Nigeria be armed?
Private security staff in Nigeria are not allowed to bear arms. Where armed cover is needed, it has to come from a lawful state source, and our team plans and leads the event security around it.
Will you sign an NDA for a private wedding?
Yes. We sign your NDA before we discuss details, we never name clients and we never post about your event.
